Short-Term Volunteering

Updated 12/14/21: Annunciation House is actively seeking short-term volunteers to assist with providing hospitality to migrants and refugees. We are currently receiving 100-300 guests a day–both families and individuals who have been released from ICE or Border Patrol custody. They receive temporary hospitality in our houses as we assist them in making plans to travel to their sponsors elsewhere in the US.

Time commitment: For out-of-town volunteers, we require a minimum commitment of 2 weeks (or one week for returning recent volunteers who are unable to recommit to two weeks). For local volunteers we request a commitment of at least 8 hours/ week for a minimum of three months, or a full-time commitment for at least two weeks.

COVID safety: Volunteers must be fully vaccinated for COVID. Boosters are recommended for anyone who was vaccinated more than 6 months ago. Guests and volunteers must observe safety measures while in our houses, including mandatory masking in shared spaces, social distancing, and good hand hygiene.

More info: For more information, including background on the refugees; descriptions of volunteer duties; details on COVID safety; and info on donating meals and other goods, please read this document:
