Short-Term Volunteering

Update 3/15/21: we have received an incredibly positive response to our appeal for volunteers and are currently suspending new applications. Thanks to all who have offered to help! We will re-open applications in the future if we need additional help.

Annunciation House is now accepting a limited number of short-term volunteers to assist with providing hospitality to refugees enrolled in the Migrant Protection Protocols. MPP participants are now being admitted to the U.S. and will receive temporary hospitality in our houses as we assist them in making plans to travel to their sponsors elsewhere in the US.

Time commitment: For out-of-town volunteers, we require a minimum commitment of 2 weeks. For local volunteers we request a commitment of at least 8 hours/ week for a minimum of three months, or a full-time commitment for at least two weeks.

COVID safety: All guests and volunteers must test negative for COVID before arriving, and must observe safety measures while in our houses, including mandatory masking, social distancing, and good hand hygiene. Preference will be given to COVID-vaccinated volunteers.

More info: For more information, including background on the refugees; descriptions of volunteer duties; details on COVID safety; and info on donating meals and other goods, please read this document:
